WHAT MAKES Yangtze Medical Center UNIQUE?
Dr. PuQuan Xiao is both a OMD (Oriental Medical Doctor, CA) and a ShaoLin monk.
Because of these two roles, his medical expertise is unique,  It results from the
integration of medical training in Chinese and American universities as well as the
medical healing arts education provided by his studies as a monk in the ShaoLin
Monastery.  These two sources of education have created a synergy of knowledge and
experience that set Dr. Xiao apart from other TCM and alternative medical
practitioners.  The following sections describe these two different educational
experiences.

ACADEMIC EDUCATION
Dr. Xiao is an OMD (Oriental Medical Doctor, licensed in CA) and a licensed
acupuncturist in both Arizona and California. He graduated with a degree in TCM
(Traditional Chinese Medicine) from Chang Chun University in China.  He specialized
in orthopedic surgery and TCM for ten years.   Dr. Xiao worked in Guang An Men
Hospital in Beijing, China (the top research facility for TCM in China).  In the United
States, Dr. Xiao received degrees from Dongguk Royal University and South Baylo
University, and his PhD in TCM (OMD) from American Liberty University, all located in
California.  He has been practicing in Arizona since 2001.

SHAOLIN HEALING ARTS EDUCATION
Along with academic medical training, Dr. Xiao has greatly benefited and been
blessed by his medical training as a monk as well as his studies leading to his mastery
of Kung Fu Martial Arts, all which began in the
ShaoLin Temple at age six.  In his early
teens, Dr. Xiao studied with two Shaolin Temple Master sifus (i.e. reknowned
teachers), one a ShaoLin Temple nun and the other, a ShaoLin Temple Monk.  These
master teachers were experts in the healing arts and taught Dr. Xiao many of the rare
and specialized techniques unknown outside of the ShaoLin Temple.  He learned from
them unique forms of Zen Buddhist meditation for self-healing and longevity and,
through
ShaoLin Kung Fu practices, he learned unique forms of strength, endurance,
and self-defense.

Dr. Xiao is also a Master of Kung Fu.  He has also served as guest Kung Fu Master
Teacher at a number of New York and Phoenix-based martial arts schools. He has also
served as Master-Level Judge for national and international martial arts championship
contests.  By invitation, he has also appeared on Phoenix television to demonstrate
martial arts and qi gong.

Today, visitors can find Dr. Xiao’s name inscribed on the wall of the renowned
Henan
ShaoLin Temple in China which recognizes Dr. Xiao as a thirty-third lineage generation
disciple of the ShaoLin Temple.  Dr. Xiao’s medical TCM training and his ShaoLin
monk physical, mental, and medical training combine to make Dr. Xiao a rare and
unique practitioner of mind/body/spirit healing.

SHAOLIN MONKS HISTORY
Dr. Xiao has inherited unique medical knowledge from the Buddhist monks who have a
2000 year history of Chinese medicine imbedded in the 5000 year Chinese medical
tradition.  Out of necessity, the monks developed and perfected healing practices to
deal with martial arts injuries:  they were, in one sense, the first doctors of sports
medicine.  The monks also perfected their Qi Gong practices to heal themselves, to
prevent illness, and to increase the quality and length of life (longevity).  In fact, Kung Fu
refers to any accomplishment or skill cultivated through long and hard work.

PHILOSOPHY
In Dr. Xiao’s case, his Kung Fu is intimately related to the healing arts and alternative
medicine.  Dr. Xiao is dedicated to honoring, facilitating and assisting patient’s in their
quest for optimal healing and enhanced wellness of body/mind/and spirit.
